How We Do IT

Awareness-Based Practices

Everything we do is grounded in presence. We believe that the best “stuff”—creative ideas, deeper relationships, new future possibilities—are best harvested from the field of present-moment awareness.

Purposeful Play

We make learning fun and experiential—we don’t want people just to grasp concepts intellectually, but to feel and “live it.” Our workshops utilize techniques from applied improvisation to build connection, presence, resilience, and collaboration.

Empirical Grounding

Our work is grounded in behavioral science, biological science, and systems science. From team-building, to stress-reduction, to change-management, we draw from empirical data about “what works” to maximize behavior change.

Our Three Founding Principles

  • Interconnectedness

    Everything is interconnected and interdependent—from the cells in our bodies, to the teams we work with, to the world, itself. The laws that govern the micro (i.e., individual) also apply to the macro (i.e., collective). As we reach our potentials individually, the collective follows.

  • Compassionate Awareness

    Knowing our interconnectedness, we recognize the “common humanity” in others. Compassion for self and others loosens attachment to unhelpful ideologies and behaviors. This paves the way for pragmatic action.

  • Pragmatic Action

    We do what works, because it works—not based on predetermined belief systems. This might change across space and time—in a dynamic system, what works depends on context. By loosening our grip on attachment to identity and ideology, we are free to answer the question, “what actions actually work in accordance with my deepest values and goals?”
